Jon Bains first called me Tallbastard back in 1995 when we were setting up pioneering web boutique ‘Obsolete.com‘. Since then I have increasingly utilised it as my nickname on social networking and other public platforms. Most people still call me James though I expect they find the nickname more suitable from time to time…!
These days I live with my grrrls Laurel, Ruby and Lisa in Brockley S.E.London and cycle to Greenwich most days to Deckspace the SPC media lab in the old projection suite of Borough Hall.. Spring 2011 marks its tenth anniversary which will be acknowledged with a few events, perhaps see you there.
In the meantime you are reading my blog posts which have been sparodic to say the least and which I am finding more useful a notekeeper as time goes on.
Just the other day I wrote a CV in response to Claire McRandal suggesting well paid work available in Bahrain! Nothing further has happened in this respect though if you are reading this now perhaps it has been put to good use?

Hi James, I am a Deptford resident who lives within the OWN area, and am currently working on a research project for Which? about collaborative purchasing and consumption. The project I am working on focuses on collaborative consumption in public services but I am personally interested in the possibilities represented by OWN as a potentially scaleable model for collaborative consumption in broadband. The long and the short of it is I’d like to have a chat with you about OWN at some point and find out some more details. Obviously my email is below and I’m happy to discuss things by telephone but equally we could just go and have a pint down the Birds Nest 🙂 In any case I’m really interested in learning more about OWN.
Very nice article. I definitely love this website.
Keep writing!
